our roots

My name is Reta (short for Margaréta), and I am a botanical watercolor artist from Hungary, currently based in Boston, MA. I created my company because I wanted my art and design work to bring people a little closer to their roots.

To the roots we all share in nature, where life is slower and simpler, and where the most beautiful creations can be found.

My artwork is grounded in watercolor, plants, and flowers, though I love exploring other mediums when inspiration leads me there. Over the years, I’ve become more aware of the small details around me: a textile pattern, a color combination on the street, a meal, a memory, a song, or a place I’ve traveled. Inspiration can come from anywhere, and often I don’t even realize where it began — and that mystery is part of what makes each piece unique.

I sell my artwork as fine art prints, greeting cards, stationery, and stickers, and I also create custom botanical illustrations for individuals and companies. My projects have included wedding invitation suites, logos, children’s room illustrations, calligraphy pieces, and more. Watercolor is incredibly versatile, and the endless possibilities are what I love most about it.

For the past ten years, I’ve also taught watercolor classes for both beginners and advanced painters. Teaching was something I never expected to love, but it has brought me so much joy, gratitude, and connection. The people I’ve met through these workshops have made this journey truly special.
