Hello,
I am Reta, a botanical watercolor artist and I’ll be your teacher for this class.
This is a beginner - friendly watercolor workshop: we’ll paint plants and flowers while learning the basics of watercolor and a few helpful tricks and tips.
I’ll guide you throughout the session, and you’ll receive pre‑drawn pages so you can focus on painting.
No drawing skills required.
No creativity required.
No need to bring materials (but feel free to bring your own kit if you prefer).
We get to know our basic tools
We become familiar with essential watercolor techniques
We learn how to paint simple botanical shapes — layering, shading, highlights, and tiny details
We learn how to prepare for painting a full composition
Practical skills in mixing, layering, and brush control you can use at home, plus a finished cheat sheet
Fresh confidence and a few reliable techniques you can return to and grow from
A better understanding of how watercolor pieces are built up and what techniques were used to create them
When:
Thursday, July 23 - 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM
Where: SOWA Studios — my studio
Address: 450 Harrison Ave, Studio 400 (4th floor) Boston, MA 02118
Duration: 3.5 hours of guided practice and relaxed studio time Class size: 6–10 participants to keep the atmosphere calm and supportive Supplies: All materials provided; tea, coffee, and snacks included
This is a relaxed, kind, non‑judgmental space. I’ll be there to help you the whole time — you won’t be alone. You’ll have all the tools and materials you need. You can take home your brush, sample pigments, palette, papers, the exercise page, and your finished pieces. And I always include a small gift for my students.
